SSD, HDD or RAID?

External SSD

External HDD

USB-C, USB4 or Thunderbolt?

One of the most confusing parts of choosing external storage is that many modern connections use the same USB-C shaped connector while providing very different levels of performance.

Important: USB-C describes the physical connector. It does not by itself tell you how fast a drive or port will operate.

USB-C Storage

USB-C storage is a practical choice for everyday files, backups, photo libraries and general storage. Performance varies depending on the USB standard supported by both the drive and the computer.

USB4 Storage

Not necessarily. USB-C describes the connector shape. Actual transfer speed depends on the protocol supported by the computer, cable and storage device.
