The iStorage datAshur Personal2 is the entry point to the datAshur range — and it is still a proper hardware-encrypted drive. There is no software, no drivers, no cloud account, and no host dependency of any kind. You enter your PIN on the built-in keypad before you plug it in. It unlocks, mounts as a standard USB mass storage device, and everything you store on it is protected by AES-XTS 256-bit full disk hardware encryption that is always on and never exposed to the host computer.

Where the Personal2 differs from the PRO and PRO2 is in the build and certifications. The housing is polycarbonate plastic rather than anodised aluminium, there is no independent Admin PIN, and it carries IP57 rather than IP68 protection. What it retains is the core: hardware encryption that cannot be bypassed, brute-force lockout that destroys the encryption key after too many failed attempts, and USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds up to 170 MB/s read and 133 MB/s write. Setup takes about two minutes. Out of the box you set your own PIN — between 7 and 15 digits — and the drive is ready to use on any device with a USB port. Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, Chrome OS, thin clients, embedded systems, Citrix, VMware — it does not care. There is nothing to install. The encryption is entirely self-contained in the drive hardware and is transparent to every operating system and application that uses it.

If the drive is lost or stolen, the data is safe. After 10 consecutive incorrect PIN attempts, the encryption key is permanently destroyed and the data is irrecoverable. This is not a software wipe — it is a hardware-level key erasure. The drive can be reformatted and reused, but the original data is gone.
