Most amplifiers, soundbars and AV receivers have a single optical input. Most living rooms have more than one device that needs it. A games console, a TV set-top box, a PC, a Blu-ray player — they all output optical audio, and they all need to share the one input. The Lindy 2 Port Automatic Optical Audio Switch solves this cleanly: connect two Toslink sources to the switch, connect the switch to your amplifier, and it automatically routes whichever source is currently active. No remote, no button pressing, no getting up.

The automatic switching logic detects the live signal and routes it through to the output. If you switch off your games console and turn on your set-top box, the switch follows the active signal on its own. For those moments where two sources are active simultaneously, there's also a manual button on the unit to select which source takes priority. The switch handles the full range of S/PDIF optical digital audio formats — PCM stereo, Dolby AC-3, Dolby 5.1, Dolby Digital, DTS, and uncompressed PCM/LPCM — so it works with everything from basic stereo TV audio to full surround sound from a games console or media player.

It's a small, passive-looking black box that sits tidily behind your AV setup. Powered by the included USB-A to DC cable (5V 1.2A), no mains adapter needed — USB power from a TV or any USB port will do. Toslink cables are not included, but any standard Toslink cable will work.
