The OWC Gemini is a dual-bay Thunderbolt 3 dock and hardware RAID storage solution built for photographers, videographers, and content creators who need serious capacity, serious speed, and a clean desk. With two 3.5-inch drive bays and a hardware RAID controller on board, you get up to 562MB/s in RAID 0 without leaning on your Mac's CPU — and you can reconfigure between RAID 0, RAID 1, Span, or JBOD at any time to match how you work. Pre-configured in RAID 0 out of the box.

Beyond the storage, Gemini is a proper Thunderbolt 3 dock. The front-facing SD 4.0 (UHS-II) card reader handles fast media ingests from cameras and drones. Two USB-A ports cover your peripherals. A 2.5GbE Ethernet port keeps you on a fast wired network. And an HDMI 2.1 port supports an 8K display — so you can add a large monitor and keep your laptop's Thunderbolt port free. Up to 27W of power delivery means your notebook or iPad stays charged while you work.

Q: Does the OWC Gemini work with Apple Silicon Macs?

A: Yes. The OWC Gemini is compatible with all current Apple Silicon Macs — MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac mini, Mac Studio, iMac, and Mac Pro — via their Thunderbolt ports. It is also compatible with Thunderbolt-equipped Windows PCs and iPad Pro models.

Q: What RAID modes are supported?

A: The Gemini supports RAID 0 (maximum speed — pre-configured out of the box), RAID 1 (mirrored for data protection), Span (combined capacity as one volume), and JBOD/Independent (two separate drives). RAID is handled in hardware so performance is not impacted by your operating system.

Q: Can I use this with a Thunderbolt 2 Mac?

A: Yes, with Apple's certified Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 adapter and a Thunderbolt 2 cable (both sold separately). Data transfer will be limited to 20Gb/s and notebook charging is not supported in this configuration.

Q: Does it work with Windows?

A: Yes — Windows 10 and Windows 11 are supported on PCs with a Thunderbolt port. Note that the 2.5GbE Ethernet requires an Intel network adapter driver download for Windows. If you need to share drives between Mac and Windows, OWC's MacDrive software (sold separately) is recommended.

Q: Can I replace or upgrade the drives later?

A: Yes. The Gemini supports 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA HDDs and SSDs, as well as U.2 SSDs (with an optional OWC U2 Shuttle adapter). You can swap or upgrade the drives yourself at any time.
