Q: Can I install both an HDD and NVMe SSD in this system?
A: Yes. The OWC StudioStack supports one SATA drive (3.5-inch or 2.5-inch) and one M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD simultaneously, allowing you to combine high-capacity HDD storage with high-speed NVMe performance.
Q: Are the drives bootable?
A: Yes. Independent volumes are bootable in macOS when used with a Mac system. Boot Camp is not supported.
Q: Can I use an NVMe SSD with a heatsink?
A: No. NVMe SSDs with heatsinks are not supported and will not fit inside the M.2 slot.
Q: Is this compatible with Apple Silicon Macs?
A: Yes. The StudioStack is fully compatible with Apple Silicon Macs including M1, M2, M3, M4 and M5 systems running supported macOS versions.
Q: Does this device work with Windows PCs?
A: Yes. Windows PCs with a compatible Thunderbolt port and Windows 11 (version 22H2 or later) are supported.

Actual performance may vary depending on the installed drive and the application used.
2. Thunderbolt 5 can support up to three displays from a single computer host port dependent on the host computer's capability. This includes up to three 6K or lower resolution displays, three 8K displays @ 60Hz, or two 8K displays @ 120Hz. Presently, Apple has enabled support for a maximum of two native displays per connected Apple Mac Thunderbolt host port. Software driver based technologies, such as DisplayLink (as supported by the OWC USB-C Dual HDMI 4K Display Adapter), may enable additional display support.
