Most USB-C hubs cap a USB4 laptop at 10Gb/s, a quarter of what the computer can offer. The OWC USB4 Hub runs at 40Gb/s, so you finally get the storage performance you deserve instead of a hub holding you back. The Realtek RTS5490 USB4 hub controller provides up to 20Gb/s to each downstream USB4 port, for up to 40Gb/s of total bandwidth across both. A single USB4 storage device connected to either port will see reduced transfer speeds compared to a direct host connection; for maximum single-device performance, a direct host connection is recommended.
